What is an ICG heart test?
ICG Heart Tests: Impedance Cardiography (ICG) is a unique heart test used by heart specialists to assess and diagnose patients with heart failure, shortness of breath, fatigue, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
The ICG provides all the information needed to assess the condition of the heart. It also helps heart specialists know the best program to undertake to help your heart become healthy again.
ICG is a non-invasive technology. It measures the total electrical conductivity of the thoracic region. The thoracic region is between the neck and the abdomen (belly). ICG measures change over a continuous period and record data such as heart rate, cardiac output, ventricular ejection time, & stroke volume.
Impedance Cardiography was initially described and developed by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the 1960s.
